About NextAid
NextAid is an LA based nonprofit organization that harnesses the power of the electronic dance music culture to music to support young entrepreneurs in urban centers in Africa, with a specific focus in Nairobi. Currently, funds raised are going toward the completion of the ecological construction of the Kawangware Vision Centre, a workshop housing a youth-led business enterprise in one of Nairobi's most neglected slums. www.nextaid.org

About the artists:

Singer/Songwriter/Producer/DJ/Label Owner, Marissa Guzman is the perfect example of the word DRIVEN. She produced her first album (Joy Road) in 2011, with Black Coffee's remix of "Time To Go" which went straight to #1 on Traxsource, and in 2012 it was nominated for Remix of the Year at the SAMAs (South Africa's version of the GRAMMYs). Marissa just released the Joy Road Remix album on her label, Juicy Lucy, with remixes from Kerri Chandler, Mr. V, Black Coffee, Rithma, Demarkus Lewis, Paul Randolph (Jazzanova), Pirahnnahead, Doc Link, Hallex and more, with 50% of all proceeds going to NextAid.

The songs are currently available for download on Traxsource. Listen and buy here! www.tinyurl.com/joyroadremixalbum

Mr. V - AKA Victor Font (Sole Channel Music – NYC), combines his multifaceted skills as a DJ / producer / remixer, and with an ear towards dance music’s roots. Growing up in the 1980’s the open-minded Mr. V was heavily influenced by House, Hip-Hop, Latin, Garage and Disco classics, Rhythm & Blues and Jazz. Experiencing Mr. V’s DJ sets, original productions, or remixes is like taking a trip back in time to dance music’s golden age.

Nickodemus (Turntables on the Hudson), from the early days of Giant Step, to today's Turntables on the Hudson parties, Nickodemus has been a key element in the NYC dance music scene for over 10 years. As a DJ & a producer, he explores the intersection of Urban & World Music with sounds of Funk, Folk, Jazz, Hip Hop, House & Dub- all with a message of peace, awareness & love for the dance.

Los Angeles-based Steve Nalepa is a producer, composer, DJ, professor and mad scientist collector revered in avant-garde circles for his studio alchemy and genre bending. He’s produced tracks with such legends as Bill Laswell and Pharoah Sanders, and has performed with the LA Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall. He is considered a key node in the West Coast audiovisual scene, known for his vast and eclectic array of artistic collaborators. When he’s not in the lab or rocking international dancefloors, Nalepa can be found teaching the Ableton Live online courses that he designed for Dubspot.
